GOVERNING COUNCIL

Palestine Emerging is led by a Governing Council, which plays a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction and parameters for success. It is composed of seven Palestinian private sector leaders, experts and policymakers, and three international experts. The work of the Council is ongoing to help rebuild and transform Palestine, promoting transparency, integrity, and effectiveness in all operations. 

Members of the Governing Council have extensive experience and contributions in the key fields that align to Palestine Emerging’s main activities, such as economic development, healthcare, trade and urban planning. The diversity of expertise helps ensure a balanced approach to addressing the complex challenges faced by Palestine.

Key Responsibilities of the Governing Council:

• Strategic Oversight: Providing guidance on long-term goals, ensuring that the projects meet both local and global standards for development.
• Financial Governance: Ensuring the optimal use of resources, maintaining fiscal responsibility and incentivising investment in high-impact projects that benefit Palestinian communities.
• Project Evaluation: Monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes, so helping ensure that all Palestine Emerging initiatives deliver tangible results and support sustainable growth.
• Partnerships and Advocacy: Engaging with stakeholders, including governmental bodies, international organisations, and the private sector, to foster partnerships that amplify the impact of the initiatives.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Shireen Shelleh is Palestine Emergine’s Executive Director. Shireen brings a wealth of experience in strategic planning and spatial development, guiding the initiative’s vision of transforming Palestine’s future through public-private partnerships and comprehensive development projects. With over two decades of experience, Shireen’s leadership goes beyond technical development. She advocates for creating equitable opportunities, ensuring that Palestine Emerging becomes a catalyst for holistic growth, recovery, and sustainable progress in Palestine’s post-conflict environment.
